The key inspiration for the Orgovan typeface family was a template published in an old Czechoslovak lettering guide Písmo ve výkladní skříni (Typefaces in the Shop Window) by Zdeněk Němeček, 1961, Vydavatelství obchodu. It featured an example of a quickly drawn letters created using a broad brush. After compositional adjustments and the addition of characters to the set, the basic Brush style was created—a bold, poster-typeface with a distinctive, unmistakable character. To expand the range of emotional moods, a palette of additional styles was developed to span several decades.
