The original logotype was based on the Compacta typeface, designed by Fred Lambert for Letraset in 1963. Its new form has been carefully yet decisively redrawn into a more contemporary and confident expression. The character of the wordmark is emphasized through an accentuated central axis, strengthened horizontal strokes, and carefully balanced proportions.
Respekt is a Czech weekly news magazine published in Prague that focuses on domestic and international politics, economics, science, and culture. It was founded shortly after the fall of Communist rule in 1989 by a group of former samizdat journalists, becoming one of the first independent magazines in the Czech Republic after the end of the communist regime.

The magazine’s logo has consistently maintained its appearance despite several layout changes, as seen on the covers from 2007 to the present.
