Let's start with what might be our favorite feature on the entire website. On the Fonts page, you can instantly preview your own wordmark across every family at once — a surprisingly effective way to narrow down your options before diving into individual typefaces.

Every line on a typeface page is a live tester. You can adjust the size, tracking, leading, alignment, and number of columns. You can also change the text color. We will not judge. OpenType features are an important part of the tester, since many of our typefaces include extensive sets of stylistic alternates that are best seen in context. Once you have made your choice, you can add the selected style directly to your cart.

Further down each typeface page, you will find an overview of its OpenType features, the complete character set, related typefaces where available, and selected examples of use.

If testing directly in the browser does not suit you, every typeface is available to download as a Trial. The Basic Trial character set is limited to uppercase and lowercase letters, numerals, and a small selection of punctuation. If, as an experienced professional, you prefer to test typefaces directly in your own designs and favorite applications, sign in to your account. There you will find Full Trial fonts with complete character sets, all alternates, and all OpenType features.

Full Trial licenses also take the place of student discounts. Students may use these fonts without limitation in school projects; we simply ask that presentations include a credit naming both the typeface and Suitcase Type Foundry.

This brings us to the new licenses. We have deliberately kept the licensing system straightforward. Its foundation consists of Desktop, Web, and App licenses, which can be extended as needed with ePub, Server, Trademark, Broadcast, or Unlimited options.

We put considerable care into the new wording of the EULA. It should now be simpler, better structured, and easier to understand. You can find the new EULA on the Licensing page.

If reading the license raises questions that it does not answer directly, the extensive Frequently Asked Questions section is there to help. Organized into six thematic areas, it should cover most practical issues. If you still cannot find the answer you need, send us an email. There are limits to what even six thematic sections can anticipate.

You no longer need to create an account to purchase a font. If you do not need access to Full Trials, font updates, or your order history, only the essential billing information is required. You can even share your shopping cart with your client or save it as a PDF for future reference.

This is where we have brought together all the custom type projects that have passed through our hands. Whether the work involves simple modifications to existing typefaces, typographic or pictorial logotypes, or entirely original custom typefaces and extensive type systems, every project receives the same level of attention. The new presentation therefore offers substantially more than a brief list of clients.

Some projects deserve more space than a few paragraphs on a typeface page. That is why we created the Behind the Type section, where you can learn more about the work behind the foundry. At present, it includes more detailed features on type systems such as Icona and Yolo. Links to these articles also appear in the headers of the relevant typeface pages.

The new website has been designed from the outset to work seamlessly across every device. You will not miss any content on mobile, as touch-first usability was one of our key priorities throughout the development process. To appreciate every detail of the typefaces—and to get the most out of the testers—a desktop is still the best place to explore the site. And yes, there is a Night mode. We have not forgotten those who prefer working after dark.

And we nearly forgot the typefaces themselves. Alongside the new Gutentag, whose design we particularly enjoyed, the entire collection has been updated. We have given all available OpenType features clear, descriptive names, so you no longer need to wonder what, for example, Stylistic Set 07 actually does. Magion has a new default single-storey “g”, which suits it considerably better. In BistroScript, all alternate characters that enable smoother connections have been converted into contextual alternates, so they now substitute automatically as you type. Monopol has gained new weights that fill the range between Thin and Black more evenly, along with alternates for several of its distinctive uppercase letters. The popular Urban Grotesk now speaks many more languages thanks to the addition of Cyrillic and Greek.

A typeface only truly comes to life once it is used. That is why we created a more extensive Fonts in Use section, bringing together some of the most interesting and enjoyable examples — work that gives us enormous pleasure and may offer you some inspiration.
